We will be having a clothing drive for the Hope Rescue Mission. Last September, they opened a new center called The Lighthouse. This new building is designated specifically for women and children.
One Great Hour of Sharing
On Sunday, March 6, 2016, we will join with other Methodists to celebrate One Great Hour of Sharing.
This is a crucial Sunday for us because it is the day we come together to empower our disaster relief arm of Global Ministries, the United Methodist Committee on Relief, UMCOR, for an entire year. If you remember,
- When tornadoes hit Mississippi, UMCOR was there.
- When Syrian refugees needed help, UMCOR was there.
- When a typhoon in the Philippines displaced tens of thousands of people, UMCOR was there.
- When an earthquake and a tsunami decimated villages in Japan, UMCOR was there.
This One Great Hour of Sharing covers the operating costs of UMCOR, which allows UMCOR to be where it needs to be, when it needs to be there, for as long as it needs to be there … and allows UMCOR to funnel earmarked donations directly to the designated project.
Together, we can make One Great Hour of Sharing a phenomenal success. Together, we can make sure that UMCOR can go wherever people are in critical need.
