Missions Update – April 2022

The Missions team met this past week and are making an effort to increase our contributions to UMCOR. This money is being sent directly to Ukraine relief efforts. Those who wish to provide humanitarian assistance to the Ukrainian people in the wake of the Russian invasion may contribute to: Advance #982450, UMCOR International Disaster Response and Recovery. This fund will provide direct assistance to those in Ukraine as well as assistance to Ukrainians fleeing to neighboring countries. You may give in the following ways:

  • Online at https://umcmission.org/advance-project/982450
  • By check with “Advance #982450-Ukraine” written on the memo line may be given at or through LPCUMC. 100% of your donations will go to the Ukraine.
  • There is also a project board in the Wagner Room with a pocket to place donations.

Hannah’s Hope

Hannah's HopeSince we are in rainy April, the Missions Team is also starting a project called “STAYING DRY.” We are asking for your help in supplying drying items to Hannah’s Hope. This charity houses single young mothers and helps them find employment and get back on their feet to independence. They are located near Alvernia College and, although we have supported them the last few years, this year instead of giving them a financial donation, we hope to present them with a load full of products listed on the green poster in the Wagner Room—products to keep them dry. We are looking for donations such as diapers, paper towels, tissues, feminine products, etc. which can be placed in the collection box in the Wagner Room at the rear of the sanctuary. Financial contributions can be made out to LPCUMC with “Hannah’s Hope” on the memo line.

Please take a look at these two charitable projects and hopefully help us be successful in providing needs to one or both of them.

The committee plans to give monthly updates of our progress in order to let you know how, by working together in God’s name, we can make a positive difference to those in need.

Please contact Carol Bashore if you have any questions.

Thank you.
