Lincoln Park UMC partners with New Journey UMC on S. 6th St. in the city of Reading to reach out to the local community with many needs. We assist in collecting food for their food pantry (which serves about 80 families per week), collect clothing and home goods for those in the local area and, help serve meals. They often serve approximately 160-170 meals per day and served over 20,000 meals in the past year.

Recently, members of our church spent a couple of days renovating/painting their food service/dining room with a bright new color!

Cherokee Youth Mission Trip

Lincoln Park UMC’s Youth Mission Trip to Cherokee, North Carolina, Summer 2012

Youth Prepare for Mission Trip to North Carolina

This year Lincoln Park United Methodist Youth (6th thru 12th grade) will be going on a mission trip to Cherokee, North Carolina through an organization called Team Effort. We leave 6/17/12 early, early morning and return 6/22/12 late, late evening. We will be working on the Cherokee Indian Reservation with remodeling projects and VBS. Our accommodations are at a local college which includes bunk beds and showers. Each participant is asked to make a $50 donation to go and so far we have 5 committed youth (4 boys and 1 girl) and 2 very brave chaperones. There is still time if you would be interested in going, contact Tracy Goldsborough.

Missions Opportunities at Lincoln Park

There are many ways to be involved in outreach opportunities at LPCUMC. Some programs are seasonal and some are year-around. All need gifts of either time, talent or treasure by volunteers, so that we can offer different means of support to our neighbors, communities and our world.

Make a Difference by Supporting Opportunity House

From Penny Snook

Many people are struggling these days and their troubles don’t go away. Why not take a few hours out of your hectic schedule to make a difference in someone’s life?

We’ll be serving dinner at Opportunity House the FIRST TUESDAY of every OTHER month beginning in JANUARY and continuing through NOVEMBER.

Anyone interested in helping to cook and/or serve the meal is welcome. Cooking begins in our Church Kitchen at 4PM, and we leave for the shelter to serve our meal at 6PM.

If you don’t have time to be there in person, please know that a monetary donation towards the meal is always welcome and appreciated.

There are also items that the shelter always needs, such as grooming products, pillows, bedding and more. Those items should be labeled “Opportunity House” and left in the kitchen so we can deliver them with the meal.

Please contact Penny Snook with questions- or to volunteer. Thanks for your support!
